María Luisa Carnelli (1898 - 1987)

She was the first woman to write tango poetry and her tango Linyera won Max Glucksmann contest in 1930.

She started writing tango as means to support herself and her child after separation. She said royalty income from one tango (Cuando Llora La Milonra) was more than from 8 books that she published.
She used pen name (Luis Mario - reversed male version of her name) so her middle class father won't find out.

Following her belief as socialist, she became a war correspondance and travelled the world.

A true pioneer from that time.
