Falta un invitado de fama temida
Y ése es Maldonado,
que está por caer.
El “tano” Nicola
que los relojea,
y que de la cita conoce el por qué,
siente que la cosa se va a poner fea
cuando llegue el otro, que es guapo de ley.
Ni bien Maldonado llegó hasta el umbral,
El “pardo” Miranda tanteó su puñal...
La noche del duelo fue mudo testigo,
su poncho de sombras cubrió a los rivales,
que en un implacable trenzar de puñales
se jugaban todo por una mujer.
Silencio en la calle del drama sombrío
y dentro del boliche de escuálida luz,
el “tano” sintiendo un escalofrío
y Esther, de rodillas besando una cruz.
