Ayer cantaste a Gardel,
mas hoy, del enjambre? humano,
tu canto se fue tras él.
Quebrose tu voz doliente,
partió en pos de emoción,
y la flor del dolor se deshoja
sembrando congojas en mi corazón.
(Instrumental)

En pos del cortejo, las voces de bronce
de tus personajes, oraban por vos.
Acaso “Un lamento”, “El penado catorce”,
que en “Son de campanas” llamaban “Adiós”.
“Dios te salve m' hijo”,
tal vez murmuraron,
en tanto que “Nieve” quebraba tu voz,
cuando un crucifijo ceñiste en tus manos,
cantándole al mundo tu último adiós.
English
A winter morning, the sun is hiding
denying its rays perhaps it is gone.
There's crying, laments, what has happened
that wavered the fortitude of the Porteño soul.
A winter morning, black ribbons mourning
a soul in heaven that God took.
What happened? people ask eagerly,
people respond, Magaldi passed away.
"Why did you leave, brother?"
Yesterday you sang to Gardel
but today from the crowd
your singing went behind him.
Your sorrowful voice broke
left in search of an emotion
and the flower of pain loses its petals
planting grief in my heart.

Following the entourage, the bronze voices
of your characters prayed for you.
Maybe "A lament", "Convict num. 14",
that "The Sound of Bells" called "Farewell".
"God save you my son",
they may have murmured,
while "Snow" broke your voice,
when you clung to a crucifix,
singing to the world your last goodbye.
Note: Homage to Agustín Magaldi (1898-1938), a great singer.
Carlos Dante who is singing this version wrote the lyrics.
